The Washizu in Holland Tournament is a friendly competition without any formal status. It is based on the Japanese manga Akagi. In this comic the main character, Akagi Shigeru, plays a deadly riichi game against the evil spirit Washizu. For their game, they use a set which consists of tiles of which three out of every four is transparent.

The first Washizu in Holland Tournament took place in the Dutch town of Arnhem, Summer 2010. There were 24 competitors. One year later, a reprise took place in Nijmegen, with 20 players.
