In 2011, for the first time the Dutch national riichi championship will be a two days’ event. It will take place in the Mind Sports Center ‘Den Hommel’ (the Bumble Bee), Utrecht, September 17~18, 2011.
Until last year, the Dutch championship was awarded to the player who had the best accumulated results in the Cherry Blossom Tournament and the Kinryu Majan Taikai. But the championship new style is more in accordance with what is prescribed by the European Mahjong Association EMA.

Besides this MERS 2 competition, the Netherlands have two MERS 1 events: the Cherry Blossom Tournament (Nijmegen, April 16th) and the Red Fives Tournament (November 6th). The Kinryu Majan Taikai will not be held for the time being.
